Bordeaux’s wine web3 marketplace, InterCellar, is this month's Borderless Ventures syndicate deal

Thanks for being a part of The Web3 Economy. While this isn’t a news item or regular post, I thought it might interest you since you love Web3 :)

Update: Ok, there is news after all! Partouche Casinos, one of the largest casino/hotel groups in Europe, also just announced an investment in InterCellar.

The What:

🍷 Fine wines, champagnes, and spirits like whiskey and rum offer some of the highest returns as alternative assets. The platforms used to buy/invest, trade, and manage these investments suffer from the traditional Web 2.0 issues of having to go through an intermediary that both complicates transactions and eats up returns through fees. Shipping bottles creates significant problems with breakage and temperature/environmental damage to the wine.

Bordeaux-based InterCellar is solving those issues and more by:

1. Assigning a digital twin (NFT) to each of those bottles so that ownership is tied to the digital asset, facilitating direct secondary market transactions.

2. Since ownership is controlled by the digital asset, the bottles can stay safely stored at the vineyard or warehouse, removing almost all risk of loss due to breakage and environment.

The Who:

They just announced a 1 million euros seed investment from 30 business angels and vineyards as well as one of Europe’s largest casino hotel groups.

I am investing, as well, through one of my syndicates (grouped investment like an investment club, for potential individual investors like you).

– Americans and Canadians do not need to be “accredited” investors as this is a private offering based in Europe
